Kalkfontein Créche and Pre-school
The Indigo Social Investment committee has identified a dire need for the establishment of a créche and pre-school facility in the impoverished area of Kalkfontein on the Cape Flats. Working parents in this area currently drop off their young children at a créche operating in the back yard of a local home each morning, whilst other children are left unattended or in the care of an unemployed youngster. The créche will offer some 90 children new hope and is currently under construction.

Indigo Brands Joins Fight Against Cancer
Indigo Brands have joined the world-wide fight against cancer by teaming up with the non-profit organization
Look Good Feel Better. This non-profit organisation assists women facing the trauma and stress of cancer.
One of the major obstacles female cancer patients have to face is overcoming the distressing appearance related to side effects of their treatment, which includes suffering hair loss, pale or sallow complexion and uneven skin tones. The Look Good Feel Better initiative offers patients a skin-care and make-up regime presented by specially trained volunteer beauty professionals to boost their self-esteem.
The programme is run under the auspices of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association of South Africa, of which Indigo Brands are proud members. Yardley Cosmetics, Skin and Fragrance represented Indigo in this heart-warming campaign by sponsoring a series of workshops in Cape Town recently.
According to Indigo Brands Human Resources Director, John Bexiga, this partnership is the embodiment of the company’s philosophy of becoming involved with its target audience and investing in the Company’s surrounding communities. “As these workshops are being hosted in the Cape, which is a core catchment area for us in terms of employees, we felt that this collaboration can assist us in our quest to be a responsible corporate citizen.” Although the programme is not product-specific, Yardley representatives have been overwhelmed by the enormous response received from workshop delegates. “It is a completely non-medical approach, but the fun and interactive approach utilised during these sessions offers significant comfort and support to the participants during a severely challenging time in their lives”.
